なぜ、いつから男性が
スカートを履かなくなったんだろうか。

なぜ、見た目で着る服を
決められないといけないのだろうか。

なんで？

私には女の子の子供がいます。
その子が中学校に入る時に相談してきました。

「私はスカートを履きたくない」

学校には女子がスカートを履く、という
今になっては「当たり前」とされる
風習的なものがあります。

我々にとってはそれが
「当たり前」、になっていて
「なぜスカートを履きたくない」
「履かないといけないのか」
という感情が無くなっていたのかも知れません。

学校には一応女性用のズボンがあり、
同学年にも何名か同じ気持ちの
同級生がいたみたいで、
今となっては「普通」にズボンで登校してます。

その時にふと思ったんです。

その逆は？
男子生徒でスカートを履いたらいけないっていう
文化ってなんでなんだろうかと。

ただそういう流れになった。
もちろん大人になって、
個性として履いてる人はいるけど、
やっぱりなんだか違う。

自分も含めて「なんで？」という感情が溢れ出して
今回のリリースに繋がりました。

男っぽくて、野暮ったくても
スカートを履いてもいいんじゃないか。

大人の男たちが何食わぬ顔して履いてれば、
若い人たちもその内そういう固定概念が
外れるんじゃないだろうかと思いました。

Since when did men stop wearing skirts?

Why do we have to wear
what gender tell us to wear?

A simple question.

“Why?”

I have a daughter.

She once told me right before
she entered middle school,

“I don’t want to wear skirts.”

Japanese schoolgirl uniforms are basically setup with skirts, and since it has become a standard

overtime, we probably have stopped thinking why they have to wear skirts instead of pants.

Fortunately, her school had an optional uniform
with pants, and so she decided to
wear those instead of skirts.

That got me thinking,

“What about the opposite?
Why can’t boys wear skirts instead of pants?”

Of course, there are people wearing skirts for fashion once they’re all grown up, but why not kids?

This led to the release of our “lesskirt” products.

If us adults start wearing skirts on a daily basis,
maybe we can break
this stereotype of the younger kids.
